CSV to Excel Converter
Paste or upload CSV and convert it to an XLSX workbook locally in your browser. Preview rows first, then download the spreadsheet file.
🔒 Runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploadedTurn CSV text into an Excel workbook
CSV is one of the most common exchange formats on the web, but it is not always the easiest format to share with teammates. A CSV to Excel conversion gives you a familiar workbook that opens cleanly in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice and many reporting tools. This page accepts pasted CSV or a local file, previews the parsed rows and then writes a real XLSX workbook for download.
Everything runs client-side. SheetJS reads the text in your browser and builds the workbook in memory, so there is no upload step and no waiting for a server job. That is especially helpful when a CSV contains business exports, email lists, inventory data or anything else that should remain private. You can convert a quick snippet copied from another system or a full downloaded file without handing the data to a third-party conversion endpoint.
When XLSX is more useful than CSV
CSV stores rows and columns as plain text. It is lightweight and universal, but it has no place for workbook metadata and can be confusing for non-technical recipients. XLSX packages the same table into a spreadsheet file that people can sort, filter, format and attach to reports. It is often the better delivery format when a data export needs to be opened manually, reviewed by a client or imported into an office workflow.
Tips for accurate conversion
Check the preview before downloading. If every row appears in a single column, the source may use an unusual delimiter or inconsistent quoting; clean it first with the CSV Cleaner. Be careful with long identifiers, leading zeros and dates, because spreadsheet apps sometimes auto-format those values when you open the file. Keeping a copy of the original CSV is always a good idea, while the generated workbook gives you a convenient editable version.
